Ngoi Hui Chien is a Malaysian who will soon pursue a PhD in English literature at Victoria University of Wellington. He also holds an MA in the same subject from the University of Leeds. His research interests encompass, but are not limited to, trauma literature, postcolonialism, psychoanalysis, philosophy and ecocriticism. Other than literary criticism, he is committed to creative writing, too – especially poetry. He is highly passionate about anglophone and sinophone literatures, which are the two spheres of cultures that inspire his work. His English poems have been, or are due to be, published in the Journal of Postcolonial Writing, New Writing: The International Journal for the Practice and Theory of Creative Writing, SARE: Southeast Asian Review of English and Transnational Literature.
