Please find below our website disclaimer and privacy policy. Since these are important legal documents, we have largely used wording recommended by regulatory bodies. If there is anything that you don’t understand, please feel free to contact us for more information, and we will be happy to elaborate. If, on the other hand, you don’t want to be bound by website terms and conditions, you can find your local independent bricks-and-mortar bookshop via the Booksellers Association’s handy tool here.

    • Catalogue mailing database: If you give your consent via a tick-box, or contact us and request it, we will keep a record of your name and address in a catalogue-mailing database, which is stored offline, and is only accessed by employees of Renard Press Ltd, or by a direct-mailing company we trust and have engaged specifically to send out our catalogues. We will not use this database for any other purpose, and will not share it with any other third parties.
    • Embedded content from other websites: Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

• How will we use your data?

    • We use your data when you place an order or sign up as a user of our website to process your order and manage your account.
    • When we process your order, the payment process uses third-party gateways and APIs. You are not required to sign up to any accounts with third parties by paying through our website, although you are able to if you wish – in which case, the information given will be processed by the third party, rather than ourselves. For instance, if you decide to set up a PayPal account while you’re in our checkout, we won’t receive any of that information.
    • If we capture your data through a newsletter sign-up form, we will contact you via our newsletter software until you unsubscribe. If you fill in a form for a competition or draw, you will see a tick-box giving your consent for us to add you to our newsletter.

    • Cookies are used to remember your login information and screen display choices. This is an automated system, and we do not pass on this information beyond the website’s basic functioning.

• How do we store your data?

    • If you give your consent to be added to our catalogue-mailing database, your details will be stored offline, unless it is sent to a trusted direct mailing company.
    • For users that register on our website, we store personal information provided in their user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time by visiting the My Account section.
    • Our newsletter software is a state-of-the-art cloud-based system, run by SendInBlue, and all sign-up forms are sent securely via API (an automated safe method of transmission).

• What are your data protection rights?

Renard Press Ltd would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. You are entitled to the following:

    • Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to ask us at any point what data we hold on you – simply contact us to do so. You also have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request we complete information you believe is incomplete.
    • Under the same legislation, you have the right to ask us to remove your data. You can do that by filling in this simple form; when we receive your request, we will inspect our catalogue-mailing database, our newsletter contact database and our website archives to find out what information we hold on you – we will erase the information and report back to you. Please note that we are required by law to retain some information – such as any orders you have placed – but we will remove your personal details from these, too.

• Changes to our privacy policy

Our Company keeps its privacy policy under regular review and places any updates on this web page. We reserve the right to amend our privacy policy at any time, in line with new pieces of legislation, or new definitions of current legislation, or if we change the way we operate. This privacy policy was last updated on the 17th of April 2020.

• How to contact us

Should you wish to contact us, you can find our contact details on our Contact page.

• How long do we keep your data?

    • If you sign up to our newsletter, we will keep your details in the database indefinitely, unless you unsubscribe – if our emails “hard bounce” – i.e. you close your email account, you unsubscribe or we are blacklisted by your provider, we will no longer contact you, but we will retain your email address in a blacklist, so that we can be sure we won’t contact you any more.
    • We will keep all other records – registrations, orders and catalogue-recipient details – until you ask us not to, or until we become aware that they are no longer correct.
    • If you have agreed to receive marketing, you may always opt out at a later date.
    • You have the right at any time to stop Renard Press Ltd from contacting you for marketing purposes. If you no longer wish to be contacted for marketing purposes, please click here.
