Susan Cartwright-Smith is a writer, workshop leader and illustrator from Carlisle. She has made costumes for Manchester Royal Exchange, English National Opera and ACT Youth Theatre, Carlisle, and fabric illustrations for the Diverse Cumbria finalist exhibition Mind Trees of the Urban Forest, which she designed and curated. Being a wild swimmer and fell walker inspires her, and her work has been published in Cumbria magazine, as well as in anthologies for Forward Poetry and Arachne Press. She has been the writer in residence for Gosling Sike at Cumbria Wildlife Trust since 2020.
