Jess Skyleson

Jess Skyleson is a queer, autistic former aerospace engineer who began writing poetry after being diagnosed with stage-four cancer at the age of thirty-nine.  Currently in remission, they’re now exploring new worlds in creative writing, with particular interests in Narrative Medicine, digital/sound poetry and early Zen Buddhist poems. They were awarded the 2022 International Hippocrates Poetry and Medicine Prize, received an honourable mention in the Tor House Poetry Prize and were a finalist for the Yemassee Poetry Prize and Kalanithi Writing Award. Their work has appeared in a number of literary journals and anthologies in both the US and the UK.
